Last Weekends Event Recap

Posting this much much later than I usually do but I would like to take some time this evening while listening to Didgerod and post my recap of the 12 hour MusicFest that Deb from the Unsigned Musicians show and I hosted last Saturday.

First of all let me say once again how much I appreciate all the musicians that came out as well as the audience. You guys (and gals) rock!

We started off the event with the promo video and our good friend Rob Mazurek's version of the Star Spangled Banner. Deb and I kicked off the show with a little commentary and music before we brought on our first musician of the day. One of the things we touched on is that while preordering for Rob's new CD is closed, his music will be available in late October on I-Tunes. Rob's website is http://www.robmazurekmusic.com go check it out!

At 12:30 we handed it off to musician Kelly Hoyle Fuller. She's played on our regular shows over the last couple of weeks, and has become a huge fan favorite as well as part of our regular group on blogtv. She's really a phenomenal musician and a great person as well. Kelly always puts together a first class performance and last Saturday was no exception.

I have a couple of clips of her performance on my show recorded and it's available on my blogtv page as well.

Our next musician was Ciarán Brennan from Ireland (ronb15). When we did our last event in June we had connection issues with him and it didn't go so well. I'm happy to report that it went much much better this time, his set was totally awesome and I was really happy we were able to get him on again.

The next musician to play was Jesse Stutsman. He played during one of our events last year, and we thought he was awesome then. Some things only get better with time and Jesse's music is one of them. Incredible talent, awesome music. When you check out his youtube link pay special attention to the lyrics of some of his songs.

After Jesse we took a bit of a break from the live music and played some of the music that Deb and I usually play during our shows. Shortly thereafter we had our good friend Jim Cook come on and share some really awesome Native American music. Jim never fails to amaze and inspire.

John Daly came on shortly thereafter. He kept saying he was a "little rusty" but you would never have known it. He put on a really great performance (as always) and was a huge hit with the audience. I'd forgotten about his quirky sense of humor and what fun he is to have on a show!

After John we had our first (and only) newcomer to the event. Tom Meny came on and played some of the most heartfelt music I've heard in a while. Really great guy he really put on a great set. I look forward to seeing him more at future events! Right now he's recording his first CD at Wonderland Studios in Austin, TX.

We closed out the event with our good friend (and blogtv favorite) Didgerod. Despite the technical difficulties (which had plagued us off and on all day) he put together a masterful performance. It was a great way to close out the show, leaving refreshed and relaxed. Be sure to check out his regular show every Friday night at 9 pm (eastern) you won't be disappointed!

One of the few times I'll do this here....

I'm not usually into sharing links with major musicians (besides there are no shortage of people doing that anyway) but for the folks that know about some of things that have been going on in my personal life over the last year this song has been stuck in my head for a while now. And for the folks that didn't know along with the folks that do, well just listen to the lyrics, it's a song about how people in your life can go suddenly, and about making sure the people that are left know how you feel about them. Everything can change in a New York Minute.

Booking Musician Interviews Now!

I would love to get back to doing musician interviews so if you (or someone you know) is an independent musician, who would love the exposure, please shoot me an email. Please keep in mind that this interview would have to be done over Skype, or I would need a number to call via Skype to bring you on. If I need to call you, I have no problem footing the bill, as it only costs me something like 2 cents a minute and for a great musician interview, it's well worth it to me.

Also, anyone who was on the show for an interview over the last couple of years, is also invited back to the show, we had some awesome interviews with you guys and would love to see what you've been up to since we last talked and introduce you to our larger audience on blogtv (as opposed to the old blogtalkradio channel)

I would also like to extend a special invite to all the musicians who have come by and played at our music events, I think it would be really great for our viewers/listeners to get to know you folks better as well!

Also, I know I mention it during the show, but I don't think I've ever mentioned it in a blog, but I do have a standing invitation for musicians who have been at our events, or have played live on the show before to come on and play a set. I don't always remember to ask, invite or offer so if there is a night that you guys and gals are feeling musical just ask, I would love to bring you on and entertain us!

MusicFest Recap Coming Soon

I know I promised it during the show last night, maybe I'll try to work on it later but very soon I will have a recap of last Saturday's event with all the links for all the musicians.

My thanks to all who came out and to all the musicians for sharing your talent with us!
